that Enters the Domain of All Buddhas" - 219b

– PART II –

("The themes of the JAA are mostly related to the completely purified state,
i.e., a perfect and complete Buddha and his activity.")

[See JAA Part I for the first sections]
[See JAA Part II for the last sections]

[Note: The two truths are:
T1: conventionally dependently co-arisen (interdependent) relatively functional ever-changing impermanent appearances, merely labeled / imputed / imagined / created by the mind in dependence of its conditioning / karma (in cycle), not completely non-existence;
T2: emptiness of inherent existence, not real existence;
U2T: those two truths, like any other pair of apparent opposites, are inseparable, interdependent, co-defined, co-relative, co-dependent, co-emergent, co-evolving, co-ceasing / co-transcended, in harmony, in 'Union' <==> thus empty of inherent existence.
They are tools to help us to get to the 'inconceivable' by refuting what 'Reality as it is' is not, all extreme views like: existence / dharma, non-existence / non-dharma, both together, neither; difference / manyness / diversity, identity / oneness / sameness, both together, neither; permanence / continuity, impermanence / discontinuity, both together, neither; individual, collective, cosmic, a combination of those, none of those; subject, relation / action / process, object, a combination of those, none of those; etc.

The three spheres: ex.
i. The subject / actor / goer / perceiver / knower / acquirer / owner,
ii. The relation / action / going / perception / knowing / acquiring / having
iii. The object / result / destination / perceived / known / acquired / possessions / karma / 5 aggregates / body & speech & mind.

Generalisations:
Whenever it is possible the comments of each section are expressed into a more global context. So they always cover more than just what is said in the various translations. The goal is to make the Big Picture more visible.

Answer Part III. The Nature of Awakening

  • III-1. Awakening – in 23 points (i.e. Most Mahayana teachings come down to: the inconceivable unique all-pervasive timeless unborn unconditioned unchanging unceasing pristine true nature & dynamic of Reality as it is here & now / Ground / Basis / Source / Suchness / [U2T]; the Union of the Two Truths about all dharmas [U2T / U2T-3S / U2T-opp / U2T-2T]; the Union of the three spheres [U3S / U2T-3S] of any type of relation / action; the Union of apparent opposites [Uopp / U2T-opp] in any duality / triad / quad /etc.; the Union of the Two Truths about the two truths themselves [U2T-2T]; the tetralemma (not ‘this’, not ‘non-this’, not both together, not neither, whatever ‘this’ is); the Middle Way free from all extremes & middle (nothing to accept / affirm / seek / add / do in absolute terms, nothing to reject / negate / abandon / eliminate /subtract / destroy / not-do in absolute terms, just conventionally / relatively / intersubjectively); the primordial timelessness, equality, purity, perfection, divinity, completeness, freedom, enlightenment of all dharmas; the Union of the Ground and its inseparable manifestations [UGM]; and acting without acting (actions of the body, speech and mind), without any attachment, without falling into any extreme or middle, without accepting or rejecting anything in absolute terms, acting more and more in accord with the Union of the Two Truths [U2T] until it is perfected with Buddhahood.)

  1. Awakening is the realisation of [Genuine-]emptiness free from all extremes & middle. (i.e. Realising the Union of the Two Truths about all dharmas [U2T / U2T-3S / U2T-opp / U2T-2T].)

  2. Awakening is proper application. (i.e. Realising the Middle Way free from all extremes & middle in everything: nothing to add, nothing to subtract.)

  3. Awakening is non-arising. (i.e. Realising the Union of the three stages of becoming [U2T-3stages].)

  4. Awakening is the realisation of sameness. (i.e. Realising the Non-duality / Union of opposites [Uopp].)

  5. Awakening is utter-peace free of all attachments. (i.e. Acting without acting, without attachment; and realising the Union of the three spheres of perception / cognition [U3S / U2T-3S].)

  6. Awakening is to be at peace, utterly at peace. (i.e. Realising the Union of the three stages of perception / cognition [U3S / U2T-3S].)

  7. Awakening is by nature luminous. (i.e. Realising the Union of the Two Truths about the mind; the mind is empty but still functional / luminous.)

  8. Awakening is without striving or giving anything up. (i.e. Realising the Middle Way free from all extremes & middle in everything: nothing to grasp, nothing to abandon.)

  9. Awakening is without sign or reference point. (i.e. Realising the Union of the three spheres of perception / cognition [U3S / U2T-3S].)

  10. Awakening is not past, not future, not present. (i.e. Realising the Union of the three times [U3T]. Not dwelling on any of the three times.)

  11. Awakening is bodiless and unproduced. (i.e. Realising the Union of the three spheres of perception / cognition [U3S / U2T-3S]; and realising the Union of the three stages of becoming [U2T-3stages].)

  12. Awakening is a basis of non-division. (i.e. Realising the Non-duality / Union of opposites [Uopp].)

  13. Awakening is not realized by the body nor by the minds. (i.e. Realising the Union of the three vajras / kayas: body, speech, mind [U3V].)

  14. Awakening cannot be expressed through any dharma. (i.e. Inconceivability.)

  15. Awakening means to be ungraspable and to have no abode. (i.e. Realising the Union of the three spheres of perception / cognition [U3S / U2T-3S].)

  16. Awakening is an appellation for [Genuine-]emptiness. (i.e. The 2nd truth, emptiness, is also dependently co-arisen & empty of inherent existence; realising the Union of the Two Truths about the two truths themselves [U2T-2T].)

  17. Awakening is the same as the sky. (i.e. The 1st truth, dependent origination, is also dependently co-arisen & empty of inherent existence; realising the Union of the Two Truths about the two truths themselves [U2T-2T].)

  18. Awakening is a consistent [unchanging] Basis / Ground. (i.e. The consistent unborn unconditioned empty-of-inherent-existence unchanging unceasing Ground / Basis / Source / U2T and its inseparable manifestations. Realising the Union of the Ground and its manifestations [UGM].)

  19. Awakening enters the aspect-less by entering an aspect. (i.e. We need conventional truths to get to the ultimate truth. Realising the Union of the Two Truths [U2T].)

  20. Awakening is without outflows and without clinging. (i.e. We need to understand first 'dependent origination [T1]', then 'emptiness [T2]', then to realise the 'Union of the Two Truths [U2T]' …)

  21. Awakening is pure, stainless, and without disturbance. (i.e. Realising that all dharmas are primordially equal, pure, perfect, divine, complete, free, enlightened … realising that there is nothing to destroy.)

  22. Practices (cause), awakening, sentient beings  and the Tathāgata (effect) are non-dual; the two truths are non-dual. (i.e. Practicing without practicing, more and more in accord with the Union of the Two Truths; and realising the Union of the Two Truths about the two truths themselves [U2T-2T].)

  23. Awakening is not about rejecting / negating / abandoning / eliminating / destroying anything. (i.e. Conclusion: Realising that there is nothing to reject / negate / abandon / eliminate / destroy / not-do in absolute terms, just conventionally / relatively / inter-subjectively.)

  • III-2. Praise to the inconceivable Tathāgata, the true nature of Reality as it is [U2T] free from extremes & middle, free from all absolutes / reference points – in 44 points.

  • III-3. The Buddha approves – in 13 points.

[CONTINUATION OF THE TRANSLATION:]

  • [ANSWER - PART III:]
    [III. The Nature of AwakeningAwakening is an inconceivable individual spontaneous non-dualistic non-conceptual direct perception / realisation / experience of the inconceivable true nature & dynamic of Reality as it is here & now as pointed by concepts like the Union of the Two Truths [U2T, the Union of the three spheres [U3S / U2T-3S], the Union of opposites [Uopp / U2T-opp], the Union of the Two Truths about the two truths themselves [U2T-2T], the Middle Way, the tetralemma … – all free from all extremes & middle, free from all dualistic conceptual proliferations, free from all defining limitations, free from all conditioning / karma (individual, collective, cosmic), free from any origination & duration & action & change & cessation, free from all description / conceptualisation, discrimination / differentiation, causality / production / action / laws, form / matter-energy, space & time.
    Note: 'Transcending / Free from' is not grasping, not being attached to, not being slave to, but it is not necessarily 'to be completely without'; in Reality as it is [U2T] there is nothing to get rid of, as if something was inherently existing with inherently existing 'badness'.
    It is Ok to act / use conventional / relative / inter-subjective / valid / useful / meaningful words, concepts / dualities, ideas / truths / views, actions / methods / paths, milestones / goals, teachings, adapted skillful means – as long as it is without any grasping / attachment / obsession / fixation / reification / reference points; without falling for any extremes or middle; without accepting / affirming / seeking / adding / doing anything in absolute terms, without rejecting / negating / abandoning / eliminating / subtracting / not-doing anything in absolute terms, just conventionally / relatively / inter-subjectively; acting with more and more awareness of their true nature & dynamic as it is here & now [U2T]; acting more and more in accord with the inconceivable Union of the Two Truths [U2T]; acting with more and more compassion and wisdom together.]

    • [III-1. Awakening is an inconceivable personal spontaneous non-dualistic non-conceptual direct perception / realisation / experience of the Union of the Two Truths about all dharmas – including the three spheres, apparent opposites, even the two truths themselves – [U2T / U2T-3S / U2T-opp / U2T-2T] [A]. A Union of the Two Truths free from all extremes & middle, free from all dualistic conceptual proliferations, free from all defining limitations, free from all conditioning / karma; free from all description / conceptualisation & non-description / non-conceptualisation, discrimination / differentiation & non-discrimination / non-differentiation, relation / action / causality / production & non-relation / non-action / acausality / non-production, matter-energy, space & time; free from any origination & duration & action & change & cessation, and free from their complete absence / rejection / negation.in 23 points:]

      1. [(a) Awakening is the realisation of [Genuine-]emptiness free from all extremes & middle [U2T].
        "Whoever is born from conditions and causes [T1] is utterly unborn [T2] [U2T]."
        -
        [The true nature & dynamic of all dharmas]
        Dharmas are: ex. all dharmas / fabrications / appearances, and their characteristics / properties / qualities, and their relations – physical / body, conceptual / speech, mental / mind; individual, collective, cosmic; subject / beings, relation / action, object / phenomena, pure or impure; enlightened or not.
        Awakening / buddhahood is directly perceiving / realising / experiencing that
        there are no real dharmas and their characteristics / properties / qualities, no real difference / separation / relation / opposition between them; or complete absence of those.
        Awakening / buddhahood is directly perceiving / realising / experiencing
        the inconceivable Union of apparent dharmas [Uopp-all] free from all extremes & middle.
        That they are not really different / independent / separate / in opposition, but more like equal / inseparable / independent, co-defined / co-relative / co-dependent / co-emergent / co-evolving / co-ceasing / co-transcended / in harmony – in the non-dual sense of those terms: not this, not non-this, not both together, not neither.
        Awakening / buddhahood is directly perceiving / realising / experiencing
        the inconceivable Union of the Two Truths about all dharmas [U2T-all] free from all extremes & middle.
        That they are like a Union of being empty of inherent existence, not really existent / functional / caused [T2] <==> because of being conventionally dependently co-arisen (interdependent) relatively functional ever-changing impermanent appearances [T1], merely labeled / imputed by the mind in dependence of its conditioning / karma [U3S], not completely non-existent / non-functional / non-caused / useless / meaningless. And vice versa; one aspect / truth implies / proves / enables the other (<==>) [U2T]. They could be co-dependent / interdependent with their parts & wholes (when applicable), with their causes & conditions & effects (when applicable), with their conceptual opposites (always applicable), and especially co-dependent / co-emergent / co-evolving with the mind merely labeling / imputing them in dependence of its conditioning / karma (individual, collective, cosmic) [U3S = karmic cycle].
        Awakening / buddhahood is directly perceiving / realising / experiencing that they are:
        not really existent / functional / caused / real [T2], not completely non-existent / non-functional / non-caused / unreal [T1], not both together [2T], not neither [1T], and there is no fifth – in the three times;
        not different / separate / multiple / dual / unequal, not identical / united / one / non-dual / equal, not both together, not neither, and there is no fifth;
        not permanent / continuous / eternal, not impermanent / discontinuous, not both together, not neither, and there is no fifth;
        not dependent, not independent, not both together, not neither, and there is no fifth;
        not empty, not non-empty, not both together, not neither, and there is no fifth;
        not dependently arisen [T1], not empty of inherent existence [T2], not both together [2T], not neither [1T], and there is no fifth;
        not arising / existing / real / acting / changing / ceasing, not non-arising / non-existing / unreal / non-acting / non-changing / non-ceasing, not both together, not neither, and there is no fifth;
        not timeless / equal / pure / perfect / divine / complete / free / enlightened, not timely / unequal / impure / imperfect / ordinary / incomplete / bounded / unenlightened, not both together, not neither, and there is no fifth;
        not 'this', not 'non-this', not both together, not neither, and there is no fifth – for what ever 'this' is.
        Meaning their true nature & dynamic as it is here & now is indescribable / inconceivable, beyond all extremes & middle, beyond all dualistic conceptual proliferations, beyond all defining limitations, beyond all conditioning / karma.
        Meaning it has to be personally spontaneously non-dualistically non-conceptually directly perceived / realised / experienced in the here & now.
        Meaning there is no independent / universal / absolute / inherently existing basis to discriminate / differentiate them in absolute terms, just conventionally / relatively / intersubjectively.
        Meaning there is nothing to accept, nothing to reject in absolute terms, just conventionally / relatively / inter-subjectively.
        So we may as well consider them as 'the same / equal / one' as a temporary imperfect antidote to our usual positions.
        Meaning we may as well consider them as primordially timeless / equal / pure / perfect / divine / complete / free / enlightened / the inseparable three pure kayas / the true Buddha.
        Everything is the inconceivable Ground / Basis / Source / U2T and its inseparable uninterrupted spontaneous natural pristine manifestations [UGM].]

      2. [(b) Awakening is proper application.
        "What is called proper application is to neither remove nor add … not doing and not changing … Because mind is by nature luminous … Because what is pure does not become pure; it just is pure."
        -
        [The Middle Way in everything – nothing to add / do / change / obtain / realise, nothing to remove in absolute terms]
        Awakening / buddhahood is adopting the Middle Way free from all extremes & middle in everything: nothing to accept / affirm / seek / add / do in absolute terms, nothing to reject / negate / abandon / eliminate / remove / not-do in absolute terms, nothing to change / improve / purify in absolute terms, just conventionally / relatively / inter-subjectively. Ex. It is not about accepting emptiness [T2], while rejecting / neglecting conventional truths [T1]. It is not about seeking nirvana, while rejecting / trying to escape samsara. The same for the opposites of any duality / triad / quad / etc.: it is not about accepting one side of the duality while rejecting the other side, not vice versa, not about accepting both sides, not about rejecting both sides. This could be generalised for groups of more than two opposites. It is like transcending both the fault and its antidote, good and evil, appearances and emptiness.
        So awakening / buddhahood is acting without acting, without any grasping / attachment / obsession / fixation / reification / reference points, without falling for any extreme or middle about anything, without accepting or rejecting anything in absolute terms, more and more in accord with the inconceivable true nature & dynamic of Reality as it is here & now, more and more in accord with the inconceivable Union of the Two Truths [U2T] – until one perfects those with Buddhahood.
        So, with Buddhahood, although one is free from delusion in the form of conventions [T2],
        one still appears to engage with conventions in order to benefit others [T1] [U2T].

      3. [(c) Awakening is non-arising.
        "That which is pure is non-arising [U2T]. Non-arising [U2T] is faultless."
        -
        [The true nature & dynamic of three stages of becoming]
        The three stages of becoming are: origination / beginning / birth / coming / before / past, duration / middle / existence / change / staying / during / present, cessation / ending / death / going / extinction / after / future.
        Awakening / buddhahood is directly perceiving / realising / experiencing that
        there are no real three stages of becoming – origination, duration, cessation –, or real difference / separation / relation / opposition between them; or complete absence of those –
        for anybody / subjects / beings, any relation / action, anything / objects / phenomena.
        Awakening / buddhahood is directly perceiving / realising / experiencing
        the inconceivable Union of the three stages of becoming [Uopp-3stages] free from all extremes & middle.
        Awakening / buddhahood is directly perceiving / realising / experiencing
        the inconceivable Union of the Two Truths about the three stages of becoming [U2T-3stages] free from all extremes & middle.
        Awakening / buddhahood is directly perceiving / realising / experiencing that they are:
        not really existent / functional / caused / real [T2], not completely non-existent / non-functional / non-caused / unreal [T1], not both together [2T], not neither [1T], and there is no fifth – in the three times;
        not different / separate / multiple / dual / unequal, not identical / united / one / non-dual / equal, not both together, not neither, and there is no fifth;
        not permanent / continuous / eternal, not impermanent / discontinuous, not both together, not neither, and there is no fifth;
        not dependent, not independent, not both together, not neither, and there is no fifth;
        not empty, not non-empty, not both together, not neither, and there is no fifth;
        not dependently arisen [T1], not empty of inherent existence [T2], not both together [2T], not neither [1T], and there is no fifth;
        not arising / existing / real / acting / changing / ceasing, not non-arising / non-existing / unreal / non-acting / non-changing / non-ceasing, not both together, not neither, and there is no fifth;
        not timeless / equal / pure / perfect / divine / complete / free / enlightened, not timely / unequal / impure / imperfect / ordinary / incomplete / bounded / unenlightened, not both together, not neither, and there is no fifth;
        not 'this', not 'non-this', not both together, not neither, and there is no fifth – for what ever 'this' is.

        Everything is the inconceivable Ground / Basis / Source / U2T and its inseparable uninterrupted spontaneous natural pristine manifestations [UGM].]

      4. [(d) Awakening is the realisation of sameness.
        "The meaning of non-duality is awakening, in the sense of becoming awake."
        -
        [The true nature & dynamic of apparent opposites]
        Apparent opposites are: ex. good vs. evil, purity vs. impurity, samsara vs. nirvana, ordinary vs. enlightened, existence vs. non-existence, difference vs. identity, unity vs. diversity, permanence vs. impermanence, dependence vs. independence, emptiness vs. non-emptiness, subject vs. action vs. object [3S], the two truths [2T], etc. …
        Awakening / buddhahood is directly perceiving / realising / experiencing that
        there are no real opposites and difference / separation / opposition between them; or complete absence of those.
        Awakening / buddhahood is directly perceiving / realising / experiencing
        the inconceivable Union of apparent opposites [Uopp-in-general] free from all extremes & middle.
        Awakening / buddhahood is directly perceiving / realising / experiencing
        the inconceivable Union of the Two Truths about apparent opposites [U2T-opp] free from all extremes & middle.
Awakening / buddhahood is directly perceiving / realising / experiencing that they are:
        not really existent / functional / caused / real [T2], not completely non-existent / non-functional / non-caused / unreal [T1], not both together [2T], not neither [1T], and there is no fifth – in the three times;
        not different / separate / multiple / dual / unequal, not identical / united / one / non-dual / equal, not both together, not neither, and there is no fifth;
        not permanent / continuous / eternal, not impermanent / discontinuous, not both together, not neither, and there is no fifth;

        not 'this', not 'non-this', not both together, not neither, and there is no fifth – for what ever 'this' is.
        Meaning their true nature & dynamic as it is here & now is indescribable / inconceivable, beyond all extremes & middle, beyond all dualistic conceptual proliferations, beyond all defining limitations, beyond all conditioning / karma.

      5. [(e) Awakening is utter-peace free of all attachments.
        "Knowing the nature of form (object) and of the eye (subject & their relation / action) is non-attachment. [U3S / U2T-3S] "
        "The realization of dharmas as they are [U2T / U2T-3S / U2T-opp / U2T-2T] is non-attachment."
        "All dharmas are by nature [genuinely-]empty [U2T] … comparable to an illusion [U2T]"
        "Mañjuśrī, no dharma whatsoever can be found for which there may be arising or cessation."
        -
        [Acting without acting]
        Awakening / buddhahood is gaining utter peace through a direct awareness of the inconceivable true nature & dynamic of Reality as it is here & now, of all dharmas, of the three spheres / vajras, of apparent opposites, of the two truths themselves [U2T / U2T-3S / U2T-opp / U2T-2T]. It is not peace gained by opposing / rejecting / negating / abandoning / eliminating / not-doing something; not gained by rejecting / escaping / hiding from the world / samsara; not gained with complete non-thinking / non-ideation / non-conceptualisation / non-discrimination / non-feeling / non-action of the body & speech & mind; not by rejecting / negating / abandoning / eliminating all conventional / relative / inter-subjective / valid / useful / meaningful words, concepts / dualities, ideas / truths / views, actions / methods / paths, milestones / goals, teachings, adapted skillful means; but by acting without acting, without any grasping / attachment / obsession / fixation / reification / reference points, without falling for any extreme or middle about anything, without accepting or rejecting anything in absolute terms, acting more and more in accord with the inconceivable true nature & dynamic of Reality as it is here & now, acting more and more in accord with the inconceivable Union of the Two Truths [U2T]. Note: Considering one truth alone is poison [T1], and vice versa [T2], considering them as different and in opposition is poison [2T], considering them as identical / one is also poison [1T]; the solution is to consider the inconceivable Union of the Two truths free from all extremes & middle. That is the Middle Way in everything. That is peace beyond all oppositions.

        [The true nature & dynamic of apparent opposites like the three spheres of perception / cognition – subject / perceiver / knower, relation / action / perception / cognition, object / perceived / known –]
        The three spheres are: ex. 1. subject / actor / goer / perceiver / knower / acquirer / owner, 2. relation / action / going / perception / cognition / acquisition / ownership. 3. object / result / destination / perceived / known / acquired / possessions / karma / 5 aggregates / body & speech & mind. And we can generalise this of any type of relation / action, pure or impure.
        The three spheres are: The eighteen dhātus – six external bases, six internal bases, and six consciousnesses. Wx. subject / eye-consciousness, relation / eye organ, object / form … the same for the other senses. They function through the five aggregates.
        Awakening / buddhahood is directly perceiving / realising / experiencing that
        there are no real three spheres – subjects / beings, relations / actions, objects / phenomena –, no real difference / separation / relation / opposition between them; or complete absence of those.
        Awakening / buddhahood is directly perceiving / realising / experiencing
        the inconceivable Union of the three spheres [U3S / Uopp-3S] free from all extremes & middle.
        Awakening / buddhahood is directly perceiving / realising / experiencing
        the inconceivable Union of the Two Truths about the three spheres [U2T-3S] free from all extremes & middle.
        Awakening / buddhahood is directly perceiving / realising / experiencing that they are:
        not really existent / functional / caused / real [T2], not completely non-existent / non-functional / non-caused / unreal [T1], not both together [2T], not neither [1T], and there is no fifth – in the three times;
        not different / separate / multiple / dual / unequal, not identical / united / one / non-dual / equal, not both together, not neither, and there is no fifth;
        not permanent / continuous / eternal, not impermanent / discontinuous, not both together, not neither, and there is no fifth;

        not arising / existing / real / acting / changing / ceasing, not non-arising / non-existing / unreal / non-acting / non-changing / non-ceasing, not both together, not neither, and there is no fifth;
        not timeless / equal / pure / perfect / divine / complete / free / enlightened, not timely / unequal / impure / imperfect / ordinary / incomplete / bounded / unenlightened, not both together, not neither, and there is no fifth;
        not 'this', not 'non-this', not both together, not neither, and there is no fifth – for what ever 'this' is.

      8. [(h) Awakening is without striving or giving anything up.
        "Without striving means not to grasp at any dharma. (i.e. not accepting / affirming / seeking / adding / doing anything in absolute terms)
        Without giving anything up means not to abandon any dharma." (i.e. not rejecting / negating / abandoning / eliminating / subtracting / not-doing anything in absolute terms)
        .
        [The Middle Way in everything – nothing to grasp, nothing to abandon in absolute terms – transcending both samsara & nirvana]

        Awakening / buddhahood is directly perceiving / realising / experiencing that they are:
        not really existent / functional / caused / real [T2], not completely non-existent / non-functional / non-caused / unreal [T1], not both together [2T], not neither [1T], and there is no fifth – in the three times;
        not different / separate / multiple / dual / unequal, not identical / united / one / non-dual / equal, not both together, not neither, and there is no fifth;
        not permanent / continuous / eternal, not impermanent / discontinuous, not both together, not neither, and there is no fifth;
        not dependent, not independent, not both together, not neither, and there is no fifth;

        not arising / existing / real / acting / changing / ceasing, not non-arising / non-existing / unreal / non-acting / non-changing / non-ceasing, not both together, not neither, and there is no fifth;
        not timeless / equal / pure / perfect / divine / complete / free / enlightened, not timely / unequal / impure / imperfect / ordinary / incomplete / bounded / unenlightened, not both together, not neither, and there is no fifth;
        not 'this', not 'non-this', not both together, not neither, and there is no fifth – for what ever 'this' is.
        Everything is the inconceivable Ground / Basis / Source / U2T and its inseparable uninterrupted spontaneous natural pristine manifestations [UGM].

It is by realising the true nature & dynamic of the conventional / relative [T1] that one gets to the absolute [U2T]. If one rejects / negates / abandons /  eliminates / destroys … the conventional / relative,then he will never get to the ultimate [U2T].]

[The true nature & dynamic of apparent opposites like the two truths themselves – emptiness is also empty]
        Apparent opposites are: in this example the two apparent opposites are the two truths themselves.
        Awakening / buddhahood is directly perceiving / realising / experiencing that
        there are no real opposites (two truths) and difference / separation / opposition between them; or complete absence of those.
        Awakening / buddhahood is directly perceiving / realising / experiencing
        the inconceivable Union of apparent opposites like the two truths themselves [Uopp-2T] free from all extremes & middle.
        Awakening / buddhahood is directly perceiving / realising / experiencing
        the inconceivable Union of the Two Truths about the two truths themselves [U2T-2T] free from all extremes & middle.
        Awakening / buddhahood is directly perceiving / realising / experiencing that they are:
        not really existent / functional / caused / real [T2], not completely non-existent / non-functional / non-caused / unreal [T1], not both together [2T], not neither [1T], and there is no fifth – in the three times;

        not permanent / continuous / eternal, not impermanent / discontinuous, not both together, not neither, and there is no fifth;
        not dependent, not independent, not both together, not neither, and there is no fifth;
        not empty, not non-empty, not both together, not neither, and there is no fifth;
        not dependently arisen [T1], not empty of inherent existence [T2], not both together [2T], not neither [1T], and there is no fifth;

        So, it is not about accepting one truth while rejecting the other truth [T1-only], not vice versa [T2-only], not about accepting both truths as different and opposite [2T], not about rejecting both truths as if identical and one [1T]. The Middle Way in everything.]

      23. [(w) Awakening is not about rejecting / negating / abandoning / eliminating / destroying anything.
        "The destruction of the outflows, Mañjuśrī, is a conventional expression, speech, syllables, sign, and designation.
        Here no dharma whatsoever arises or ceases (or is destroyed / extinguished)."
        "Destruction is the destruction of nothing whatsoever."
        "That which is understood as destruction is simply the destruction of extremes."
        "This dharmatā is invariable." (i.e. nothing to add, nothing to reject / negate / abandon / eliminate / subtract / destroy.)
        .
        [Awakening / transcending is not about rejecting / negating / abandoning / eliminating / destroying / not-doing anything in absolute terms, just conventionally / relatively / inter-subjectively.]
        Conclusion: There is nothing to reject / negate / abandon / eliminate / destroy / not-do in absolute terms, because the true nature & dynamic of everything is the inconceivable Union of the Two Truths [U2T / U2T-3S / U2T-opp / U2T-2T]: all empty of inherent existence [T2] <==> because dependently co-arisen [T1], merely labeled / imputed by the mind [U3S], and vice versa (<==>) [U2T]. Because everything is not really existent, not completely non-existent, not both together, not neither; not different / separate / multiple / dual / unequal, not identical / united / one / non-dual / equal, not both together, not neither. Because everything is unborn unconditioned empty-of-inherent-existence unchanging unceasing. Because there is no independent / universal / absolute / inherently existing basis to discriminate / differentiate anything in absolute terms, just conventionally / relatively / intersubjectively. Because the true nature & dynamic of Reality as it is here & now is indescribable / inconceivable, beyond all extremes & middle, beyond all dualistic conceptual proliferations, beyond all defining limitations, beyond all conditioning / karma. Because everything is primordially spontaneous, equal, pure, perfect, divine, complete, free, enlightened, the inseparable three pure kayas (trikaya), the true Buddha. Because everything is inseparable spontaneous natural pristine manifestations of the {inconceivable unique non-dual non-conceptual all-pervading timeless unborn unconditioned empty-of-inherent-existence unchanging unceasing pristine equal pure perfect divine free enlightened} Ground / Basis / Source / Buddha-nature / Genuine-emptiness / Suchness / True nature & dynamic of Reality as it is here & now / Union of the Two Truths free from all extremes & middle [U2T] [UGM].
        .
        Note: 'Transcending / Free from' is not grasping, not being attached to, not being slave to, but it is not necessarily 'to be completely without'; in Reality as it is [U2T] there is nothing to get rid of, as if something was inherently existing with inherently existing 'badness'.
        It is Ok to act / use conventional / relative / inter-subjective / valid / useful / meaningful words, concepts / dualities, ideas / truths / views, actions / methods / paths, milestones / goals, teachings, adapted skillful means – as long as it is without any grasping / attachment / obsession / fixation / reification / reference points; without falling for any extremes or middle; without accepting / affirming / seeking / adding / doing anything in absolute terms, without rejecting / negating / abandoning / eliminating / subtracting / not-doing anything in absolute terms, just conventionally / relatively / inter-subjectively; acting with more and more awareness of their true nature & dynamic as it is here & now [U2T]; acting more and more in accord with the inconceivable Union of the Two Truths [U2T]; acting with more and more compassion and wisdom together.
        .
That is peace beyond all oppositions.]

[III. The Nature of Awakening

Awakening is an inconceivable individual spontaneous non-dualistic non-conceptual direct perception / realisation / experience of the inconceivable true nature & dynamic of Reality as it is here & now as pointed by concepts like the Union of the Two Truths [U2T, the Union of the three spheres [U3S / U2T-3S], the Union of opposites [Uopp / U2T-opp], the Union of the Two Truths about the two truths themselves [U2T-2T], the Middle Way, the tetralemma … – all free from all extremes & middle, free from all dualistic conceptual proliferations, free from all defining limitations, free from all conditioning / karma (individual, collective, cosmic), free from any origination & duration & action & change & cessation, free from all description / conceptualisation, discrimination / differentiation, causality / production / action / laws, form / matter-energy, space & time.

"Whoever is born from conditions and causes [T1] is utterly unborn [T2] [U2T]."

Awakening / buddhahood is directly perceiving / realising / experiencing that they are:
not really existent / functional / caused / real [T2], not completely non-existent / non-functional / non-caused / unreal [T1], not both together [2T], not neither [1T], and there is no fifth – in the three times;
not different / separate / multiple / dual / unequal, not identical / united / one / non-dual / equal, not both together, not neither, and there is no fifth;
not permanent / continuous / eternal, not impermanent / discontinuous, not both together, not neither, and there is no fifth;
not dependent, not independent, not both together, not neither, and there is no fifth;
not empty, not non-empty, not both together, not neither, and there is no fifth;
not dependently arisen [T1], not empty of inherent existence [T2], not both together [2T], not neither [1T], and there is no fifth;
not arising / existing / real / acting / changing / ceasing, not non-arising / non-existing / unreal / non-acting / non-changing / non-ceasing, not both together, not neither, and there is no fifth;
not timeless / equal / pure / perfect / divine / complete / free / enlightened, not timely / unequal / impure / imperfect / ordinary / incomplete / bounded / unenlightened, not both together, not neither, and there is no fifth;
not 'this', not 'non-this', not both together, not neither, and there is no fifth – for what ever 'this' is.

[Goto TOC]

"For someone with no abode in any dharma, the mind has no place to stand.
For a mind that stands nowhere, there will be non-arising.
And for someone who sees in this way, no distorted mind and mental states come about;
someone whose mind is undistorted will have authentic attainment.

"Whoever has authentic attainment will not form elaborations.
Someone who does not form elaborations does not move about.
When one does not move about, one does not wander.
When one does not wander, one does not become distracted.
One who does not become distracted does not oppose the dharmatā (i.e. the true nature & dynamic of Reality as it is).
One who does not oppose the dharmatā is in conformity with everything [U2T].
One who is in conformity with everything does not move from the nature of the dharmas.
One who does not move from the nature of the dharmas obtains the nature of the dharmas.
One who obtains the nature of the dharmas does not form any elaboration [T2].
Why is that?
Because he is born due to conditions and causes [T1] [U2T].

"Whoever is born from conditions and causes is utterly unborn.
Someone utterly unborn has gained certainty.
Whoever has gained certainty does not dwell with any mental engagement in the dharmas.
When one does not dwell with any mental engagement in the dharmas, one does not dwell with the dharmas.
When one does not dwell with the dharmas, one does not come into existence or go out of existence.
When one does not come into existence or go out of existence, one becomes fixed and has obtained the Dharma.

"When one becomes fixed and has obtained the Dharma, one applies oneself to the proper dharma.
When one applies oneself to the proper dharma, no dharma whatsoever is not a buddhadharma.
And why?
Due to the realization of emptiness.
The realization of [Genuine-]emptiness (free from all extremes & middle = U2T) is awakening.

—------------------

[(b) Awakening is proper application.

"What is called proper application is to neither remove nor add … not doing and not changing … Because mind is by nature luminous … Because what is pure does not become pure; it just is pure."

[Goto TOC]

"It is awakening, because in this way one realizes [Genuine-]emptiness [free from all extremes & middle about any duality] [ = U2T],
no-sign, no-wish;
no-effort, no-dwelling, no coming about;
no object of apprehension and no-abode.
(i.e. Here 'No' means not existent / functional / real, not non-existent / non-functional / unreal, not both together, not neither. [U2T])
Awakening is proper application [i.e. the Middle Way free from all extremes & middle].

"What is called proper application is to neither remove nor add.
It is the application of not doing and not changing, and it is not connected.
It is the non-liberated application, the application of neither oneness nor plurality,
and the application of what has yet to come.
This is proper application.

"In that respect, there is no application, no measure, and no direct realization of a result.
And why?
Because mind is by nature luminous. (i.e. Primordially the Union of luminosity & emptiness).
It is afflicted by adventitious afflictions, but its nature is not afflicted.

"Luminosity by nature is non-affliction. (i.e. The inconceivable primordial unconditioned non-dualistic non-conceptual functionality of the true mind [T1] free from all afflictions, free from all extremes & middle, free from all dualistic conceptual proliferations, free from all defining limitations, free from all conditioning / karma. Note: 'fee from, not necessarily without'. 'Free from something' by being directly aware of their true nature & dynamic as it is here & now [U2T].)
With respect to non-affliction there is no counteragent‍—a counteragent by which the destruction of the afflictions may occur.
And why?
Because what is pure does not become pure; it just is pure.

[The true nature & dynamic of apparent opposites]
Apparent opposites are: ex. good vs. evil, purity vs. impurity, samsara vs. nirvana, ordinary vs. enlightened, existence vs. non-existence, difference vs. identity, unity vs. diversity, permanence vs. impermanence, dependence vs. independence, emptiness vs. non-emptiness, subject vs. action vs. object [3S], the two truths [2T], etc. …
Awakening / buddhahood is directly perceiving / realising / experiencing that

Awakening / buddhahood is directly perceiving / realising / experiencing
the inconceivable Union of apparent opposites [Uopp-in-general] free from all extremes & middle.

Awakening / buddhahood is directly perceiving / realising / experiencing
the inconceivable Union of the Two Truths about apparent opposites [U2T-opp] free from all extremes & middle.

"Awakening is sameness [i.e. Non-duality / Uopp].
Sameness is the tathatā. (i.e. "the true, concrete essence or nature of things before ideas or words about them" - Ground / Basis / Source / Suchness / [U2T])
All dharmas, co-produced and unproduced, abide in the tathatā.
With respect to the tathatā there is neither something co-produced nor something unproduced;
there is no designation of duality. (i.e. [Uopp])
Where there is nothing co-produced or unproduced, and no designation of duality, that is the tathatā.

"The tathatā is nothing else but the tathatā.
Nothing else but the tathatā is the unchanging tathatā.
The unchanging tathatā is the non-coming tathatā.
The non-coming tathatā is the tathatā that does not go.
The tathatā that does not go is the authentic tathatā.
The authentic tathatā is the not-at-all-tathatā.
The not-at-all-tathatā is not afflicted and is not purified.
That which is neither afflicted nor purified neither arises nor ceases.
That which neither arises nor ceases is the same as nirvāṇa.
That which is the same as nirvāṇa neither roams within saṃsāra nor passes into complete nirvāṇa.
That which neither roams within saṃsāra nor passes into complete nirvāṇa is not past, future, or present.
That which is not past, future, or present is not low, middling, or high.
That which is not low, middling, or high is the tathatā.

"What we call tathathā (i.e. "the true, concrete essence or nature of things before ideas or words about them" - Ground / Basis / Source / Suchness / [U2T])
is an expression meaning tattva. (i.e. 'thatness', 'principle', 'reality' or 'truth')
What we call tattva is tathatā itself.
Tathatā being the same as tattva is called tathatva. (i.e. "principle" or "reality")
Thus, the tathatā and the self are not two, they are non-dual. (i.e. Union of the Two Truths.)

The meaning of non-duality [Uopp] [C] is awakening, in the sense of becoming awake.
The meaning is explained as the awareness that enters the three gates of liberation with respect to all the Dharma teachings.
The awareness is explained as engaging in the sameness of the three times [U3T / U2T-3T] with respect to all dharmas.
The meaning of the inseparability of all dharmas [C] is what is explained as the meaning.
It is voiceless, ineffable, inexpressible, and cut off from any expressions. (i.e. Inconceivable)
Awareness is explained as the awareness that understands the meaning and understands consciousness;
this is explained as awareness.
The meaning is explained as the meaning that is established by the awareness that understands the meaning of tattva, and by the awareness that understands consciousness.
That itself is the dharmatā. (i.e. The inconceivable true nature & dynamic of Reality as it is here & now [U2T].)
And the dharmatā is the meaning.

"The dharmatā is the fixity of the dharmas, the regularity of the dharmas;
it does not occur within a dharma.
The non-occurrence of the dharma and the sameness of meaning and expression are the same with respect to the non-dual meaning.
Sameness is the meaning.
It is sameness according to the understanding of the meaning;
it is the sameness of awareness, entering the gate of non-duality.

"The sameness of the interpretable meaning and the definitive meaning is their common meaning, which is emptiness [U2T].
The sameness of the person is the same as the common meaning.
The sameness of the dharmas is the same as the sameness of persons.
The sameness of liberation is the same as the sameness of the dharmas.
Realization according to the sameness of liberation is awakening.

That is peace beyond all oppositions.
.
